Best Gastro Pub
The Idle Hour
62-63 Railway Side Barnes London SW13 0PQ

“It is always a thrill to be recognised for the extraordinary effort that goes into the running of such an establishment. For 8 years now I have gone to great lengths to produce a pub that stands out above others in terms of the vital 3 elements - food/service/decor. I believe that I've managed to create a pub that feels more like a smart home with the welcome to match. With very unpretentious food made with the absolute best (mainly organic) ingredients and an unusual attention to detail I like to think that I have completed the picture.  I am particularly happy about winning as the pub is very small and hidden away so to be voted for by so many seems like a David and Goliath story. My thanks to all your readers who voted.  I will look forward to entering again next year!”  Stephen Thorp - Owner

Best Thai Restaurant
Project A Bar & Restaurant
Gainsborough Studios West, Unit C, 1 Poole Street      London N1 5EA

“I’m astounded to have won Best Thai in London two years in a row. We try to make Project A like another living room for our customers.  We have lots of families that come down and the kids love running about in our lounge area. They know where the kitchen is and where to get the prawn crackers. There’s one family that come in and the little girl rides her bike around in the bar downstairs.  The people who come here really are like our friends and I could not have asked for a better birthday present than this award.” Michael Cheung

Best Late Night Bar
71-73 Torriano Avenue Kentish Town London NW5 2SG

“We were delighted last year to win two Archant Awards and to be among the Overall Winners again this year is a real honour.  All of our customers have heard the news and are delighted and no doubt a big celebration will be held in the near future.  We want to thank everyone who has voted for us in the Archant Awards over the last two years.”  Suzi Martin- Torraino

Best Italian Restaurant
61 Jermyn Street London W6 9RH

"All of us at Franco's are truly delighted by winning his award.  It is a fitting complement to the passion, dedication and commitment of the whole team from the kitchen, bar and floor staff.  Winning this award will only inspire us to try even harder to exceed the expectations of our guests." Jason Phillips - Director

Mixologist of the Year
Steve Wilmot-Zensai
16 Inverness Street Camden London    NW1 7HJ

“It’s great, it’s quite an achievement to win! I get my inspiration from being on the other side of the bar. I don’t do Caipirinhas or Margaritas or Cosmopolitans. If someone asks for one, I’ll make it – but you can get them in Wetherspoons pubs now. I try to offer them something else.  It’s a Thai and Malaysian restaurant, so there’s an Eastern spicy influence to just finding different things to infuse the drinks with and different flavours. It’s just balance and experimentation.”

Best Hotel Restaurant
I Paparazzi Ristorante Italiano @ Harefield Manor
Harefield Manor Hotel 33 Main Road Essex     RM1 3DL

“It’s unreal, unbelievable – especially in today’s difficult climate.  We had some very stiff competition.”  Paul Harris - Director

Best Turkish Restaurant
Stonecave Restaurant and Bar
111 Kingsland High Street Dalston London E8 2PB

“It shows we are getting it right for our customers and consistently improving.  We have built on the success we had in last year’s awards when we were regional winners in the Themed restaurant and Modern European restaurant categories.  This year we went one better grabbing both those regional titles again as well as Best Turkish Restaurant title  and now gaining the accolade of overall winner in that category.  It is a tremendous achievement. I want to thank all those readers who voted for us as well as paying tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff.”
Savas Hurman- Owner

Best French Restaurant
Le Garrick
10-12 Garrick Street London WC2 9BH

“I think it’s the quality of the food and the variation of the food that keeps us popular.  But I think its also about the quality of the ingredients and the choice of dishes.  So I think the combination of a great wine, great food and a great tradition keeps it alive.” Brendan Connolly- Owner

Best Vietnamese Restaurant
86 St John Street London EC1M 4EH

“It means a lot to us to win this award and our owners will be amazed. We have had so much good feedback from customers so this is just an added bonus on top of that.  I think people like it here because of the atmosphere. We are a small restaurant but there is a very cosy feel to the place with very friendly and recognisable staff who have all worked here for a long time. It’s like a big family and our regulars feel very comfortable and at home here.  Customers seem to love our fresh flavours and reasonable prices.”  Zuzana Kunova- Restaurant Manager
